Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Following her move from Greece to England from Greece at the age of 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. When she was 21, she became the head of the famous debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student who was elected to this position. She became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on the political landscape. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 when she decided to run for a non-partisan position in the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. In addition, she directed the Detroit project that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most important female" in media with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. made her the President of their media group in 2011, after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included the other AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, an expert in management and a journalist. Her life was shaped by her closeness to her mother, and the bond she shared with her father even though she was very close to him. Even during her formative times, she demonstrated abilities to lead, and for this her name is still well-known. When she was in her 16th year she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she was a member of the college debate society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. She worked as a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation.
