Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with twelve other kids. Her imaginative mind helped her escape from life's harsh reality. life. Her songs were written before she was able to read and write. Her first guitar purchase came when she was just 8 years old and started performing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. The same year, she recorded her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. Even though she became a local star while in High School, she knew her goals were bigger. The day she graduated high school, it was 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his television show that was syndicated around the exact at the same time. Parton was offered the gig and in the year 1967, she signed to RCA Records in 1968 and joined with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The show ended in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts.
